Ketostix provides a fast, convenient way of testing urine for the presence and concentration of acetoacetic acid (ketone).
Acetoacetic acid can be found in the urine from diabetics and is more commonly referred to as a “ketone body.” Use of Ketostix Reagent Strips can alert you to changes in your condition for which adjustments in your diet and/or medication may be needed.
If ketones are present in the urine, it means that the person does not have enough insulin in his or her body, and the glucose levels are high.
How To Use
- Gather supplies such as a cup for urine sample, a ketostix and a watch/timer
- Wash your hands with soap and water
- Remove the strip from the plastic packaging carefully without breaking or damaging the strip
- Collect a urine sample in the cup – the cup must be clean and dry
- Dip the test end of the strip into the urine and remove it quickly
- After 15 seconds, check the test strip’s color and match it with the color chart that comes with the package
When removing the test strip, make sure you do not touch the test pad area of the strip
Keep the strips in a cool and dry place
